“Ing-ger-land...Err, I mean Great Bri-tain. And North-ern Ireland

Rome- England- Rome

The Olympics – a holiday from the holiday.
Many moons ago I managed to luck in and score some Olympics tickets (hockey final and closing ceremony), so after some pre planning, we decided best to park Milo up in Rome, and fly back and have a long weekend in London.
So, Katie & I (my sister) went and spent a couple of days in & around the Olympics (Meg visited Bex in Gloucester). I’m so glad I went to the games, and whilst I was away for most of the hype, as you can tell from reading the blog, the Olympics were never too far away from my iphone and the TV over the last couple of weeks. All has been said in the press, and my experience was exactly the same – a great event, and fantastic atmosphere. Throw in the Spice Girls, Take That and Eric Idle, and it’s just the cherry on top!
But, like all good things, we had a car and a large chunk of France & Italy to tick off over the next few weeks, so before we knew it, it was back onto the glory of Ryanair and Stanstead (including a tour of the runway courtesy of getting on a one-way train to completely the wrong boarding gate).
Thankfully, when back in Rome, Milo was in 1 piece and after a quick top up of oil and radiator fluid and it was time to crack on with touring the city…

Also, Meg took the opportunity to catch up with yet another Shanghai friend and took in a bit of the English countryside.

Days 26 to 29
