“I feel a little bit like Forrest Gump when he’s trying to find a seat on the bus…”

Riga - Warsaw

Today was a driving day, driving days are both good and bad.  Good because we get a long way (380 miles, a single day record for Milo), and bad because we sat in a car today.  Also it should be noted we don’t’ have a radio.

I’m going to take this opportunity to discuss the lack of people thus far on the trip: The cities have been empty.  Completely empty. Apparently they’re picking blueberries and fishing at their summer cabins… how many cabins do they have?  How long can they spend doing such things? Apparently Northern Europe is on holiday in July and Southern Europe is on holiday in August (just in time for us to arrive).

Anyways, we had some Lats left (Latvian money) and as we learned on the Rally, don’t collect money or you’ll have loads at the end that no one will exchange (ever tried to exchange half a duffel bag of Uzbeki money? Don’t, no one will take it), so we had 40 Lats left, we entered a grocery store to spent exactly 40 Lats, we spent 39.29, boom.

We had lunch in a graveyard (more sandwiches) and carried on.  Milo was quite unhappy about all the miles we did today, and I don’t have the heart to tell him tomorrow is another long day, but it is.  I managed to use 3 maps (a Hair-Venture record ) to find a campsite essentially in the middle of Warsaw, and here we lie in a tiny little room that means we don’t have to bust out the tent. Thankfully.
