“Do you think we can pullover and inquire about how it all works, without procuring any services?”

Prague-Salzburg

Milo roared to life this morning much to the dismay of the local man covering his ears as we ruined his Sunday stroll, we’ve been feeling nervous about Milo and his state of being, but he continues to press on and impress us all. Last night with the help of facebook I discovered Christine (of Copenhagen fame) was in Salzburg and we would get to have another reunion, lucky us!

The road from Prague into Austria is apparently (we were later told) quite an infamous one. The roadsides were lined with casinos and “night clubs” and every now and then a girl standing in a curious place all by herself along the roadside.  Apparently this is where the Austrians come when being Austrian becomes too serious.

We arrived in Salzburg without too much trouble and without unnecessarily relieving ourselves of money, Christine was a bit under the weather (massively hungover) but told us to have a look at downtown and then she would meet us for dinner and a drink.
This may be an awful thing to say, but there’s only so many “old towns” you can see in such a short period of time, we’re “old town”-ed out for the time being, so Salzburg did not get the same amount of attention it may have gotten at another point in time.  But the city was full and busy, and as the home of Mozart it was filled to the brim with tourists. Apparently people from all over the world had flown in for concerts this month, so lots of people strolling casually about in tuxedos and lederhosen, yes they wear them seriously (I wore a pair less seriously later on).

We met up with Christine, her travel mate and a friend from Denmark
who was living in Salzburg.  Why he chose Salzburg wasn’t made clear to us, but he was employed as a Sound of Music bike tour guide.  Yes also seriously.  We had a great night, ate some schnitzel, drank beer made by monks out of very big mugs and got a tour guide’s guide of the city, then we got to sleep on the floor of his apartment rather than pitching a tent. A win all around.
